Unidentified Developer warning when installing Mac v7.7

Q: When I tried to install my new version 7.7 for Mac I got a warning message about an unidentified developer. What should I do?

A: Apple tries to protect you from opening up potentially malicious apps on your computer. This app from Thayer Birding Software is safe (it is much too big to sell in the Mac App Store).

To open the software, Control+Click on the app in the Finder, then select "Open." You will see a new popup asking if you are sure you want to run the app on your Mac. Just hit "Open" again. You will not have to do this again.

As an alternative, you can also go to your computer's System Preferences and select Security & Privacy. Click the General tab and where it says "Allow apps downloaded from" click "Anywhere". (You may have to first click a lock icon and enter your computer's admin password.) Be sure to change this back to your original setting after downloading and installing this birding software.
